25 Editions Later… This One Means Something
For over a decade now, Sierra Rec Magazine has followed a simple idea—get outside, explore a little further, and share what we find along the way.
This week, we officially published our 25th edition.
That number caught me off guard a bit.
Not because of the milestone itself, but because of what it represents. Twenty-five seasons of stories. Early mornings on trailheads. Late nights finishing layouts. Conversations with people who care deeply about the Sierra. And a lot of moments where I wasn’t sure where it was all headed—but kept going anyway.
When I started Sierra Rec, I didn’t have a big plan. I just knew the Sierra had more to offer than the same crowded destinations, and that there were stories worth telling beyond the obvious.
Somewhere along the way, that turned into something bigger.
To mark the moment, I built something simple—a place where you can explore all 25 editions in one spot:

Each issue is a snapshot of a season. Some are gear-heavy. Some are built around trips. Others came together during times when life outside the mountains was shifting just as much as what was happening inside them.
A few worth starting with:
– The early issues where everything felt new and a little unpolished
– The Spring editions where the Sierra starts to wake up or the Fall Editions when we review our summer favorites
– The more recent guides that lean into planning, not just dreaming
If you’ve been reading Sierra Rec for a while, you’ve been part of this whether you realized it or not.
And if you’re newer here—this is a good place to start.
There’s still a lot ahead. New trails, new stories, and honestly, a lot I’m still figuring out.
But this felt like a moment worth pausing for.
Thanks for being part of it.
